Stretching Time Poem by Emily Vasquez

Stretching Time

Rating: 3.0

I know I’m stretching time,
and I do it cause he says he loves me
and it feels good
when he kisses me between my lips,
between my thighs,
even if I know
it’s not genuine.
It’s not only him;
when they say goodnight
every night,
and I feel like I little girl
I still am their little girl
and I know
I wouldn’t want to lose my little girl.
But there’s not a lot left
to aspire and dream
and no motivation to move
because the past is so heavy
and something I cannot lose-
I’ve tried.
I’ve tried
to live gracefully,
and appreciate breath,
and simply live,
and learn;
and all I’ve learned is that
I’m only stretching time.
