Subway Magic Poem by Carolyn June

Subway Magic

As I ride the escalators to the street above
I listen for the sound of magical love
Musicians tuning their sounds up there
Greet me every day as I climb the stairs

Stroking my ears each and every morning
Head fully clear; a new day is dawning
We all stand around; but no one is talking
Passerby now slow down their walking

Those earthy notes that make lovely sounds
We're mesmerized as we stand above ground
Violin, clarinet, or an alto saxophone
Flute, guitar, or a strong, brass trombone

Magical renditions are never flawed
Toss down some money or give applause
Cling to the melody, timbre, and beat
Melody lingers on as I cross the street
