Success Is A Direction Poem by Janet Mulligan

Success Is A Direction

Rating: 3.0

So close to succeeding I was
But just before that time did come
There was also word creating quite the buzz
Around town the people were having fun
And I braked to slowly drive through
Window shoppers and looki loos
They all had been attending
And this town was definitely not for me
As I was a girl from the big city

So close to finally succeeding
I thought it strange being so far away now
I had been on the way into the city
I veered quite off the beaten path somehow
I knew it was time to find my way back
So I asked of the town folk of how to get out
They laughed and thought my quest a joke
So i had to go it alone to the city
Where I was once so close to succeeding

For when I got back I bad someone waiting
On me it was the responsible tasks
To finish up where the rest had lacked
I could not just give up on that
For I knew they didn't give up on me
My courage then did become to grow
The town was no longer filled, just hollow
I could easily see which path to follow
I took that way on into the city
Where I had to go to finish succeeding

This journey back was about my believing
Relying on faith alone since nothing quite looked similarly
To the paths I has taken before
Better I was for this, this time.
I had returned to the city just fine.

Setting out to finish succeeding
Finally I had become so free
To wondering paths within the forrest
I knew quite well now which path not to take
For the better half I will not mistake
The ones leading away from success
And yet still to come was the best
Of what life I still had left
I know longer had to wonder and guess
Upon which path to take next having my best breath
That's where you stood for me awaiting
You knew all along I would pass the test
And finally I was succeeding
