Succumb To The Spring Poem by Callisse J. DeTerre

Succumb To The Spring

Being a victim who survived is red like a bleeding willow tree
and black as a back road winter's night 'cause that was me,
but I'm healing to a sunny orange and sky blue,
warm summertime shades of mother-hugs in rocking chairs,
and I want to believe I'll make it through

Right now, being a survivor is lonely, even if you hold me
because I can't believe anyone cares and yet I do
and so I know the lies aren't true and I will thrive again
but I must succumb to the Spring and so I choose
to believe, to trust You have a future full of hope in store for me
