Suddenly Marooned Poem by Elena Plotkin

Suddenly Marooned

The clouds gathered and the sun withdrew,
The raindrops fell right on through.
The puddles formed beneath my feet,
A welcome respite from the heat.
'Ha! Take that you old scorcher!
We've had enough of your torture!
Your sweltering ways are over for today!
So now that you're gone, just stay away! '
A breeze once faint, fair, and light,
found a new momentum and might.
And from the gust, a gale rang out.
Puddles widened drunk with clout,
Lightening flashed and thunder boomed.
And there I was, suddenly marooned.
Among fallen trees and electrical wires,
somewhere a fire engine was fighting fires.
Surrounded by water more than waist deep,
I, by myself, found refuge in my red jeep.
Nowhere to go and with nothing to do.
I prayed someone would come to my rescue.
As the storm raged and shook my jeep.
I watched for a boat in which to leap.
'Oh, please dearest sun come on back,
Forgive me for my stupid verbal attack.
Bring back your sunshine loaded rays,
Drive these heartless storm clouds away.'

to MyPoemList. and i'm tempted to use it in my/our showcase soon. i actually 'love' this poem. it displays the silliness of ALL WOMEN! ! ! they are always getting themselves into pickles and expecting men to bail them out. just joking above. hee-hee. keep writing. and if you get the urge to bake: i DO adore chocolate chip and walnut cookies! no shells, please. bri :)
