Suffering From A Broken Heart Poem by carolyn mallard

Suffering From A Broken Heart

There are certain times in life,
When it can just be quite cruel,
Times when you know you've done wrong,
Times when you end up feeling like a fool.

And what you once had,
All of sudden vanishes and is gone,
You know you've hurt the one that matters the most,
You know, that stupidly, you've done him wrong.
If I could turn the clocks back,
Then I would undo everything I'd said and done,
Because today there's a shadow hanging over me,
There's no promise in the midday sun.

I love you more than anything,
I love you more than the air that I breathe,
Because you are my dreams personified,
truly, you are my dream to believe.

You are all I've ever wanted, In fact,
You're much, much more than that
And I'm sorry that I hurt you,
I was Wrong, I was simply a rat.

And in truth, I can't change the past,
But the future is ours to behold,
And I want us to continue on writing,
Continue our stories (as yet unwritten and untold) .

Remember our time spent by the pool?
Remember the hours we've spent on the phone?
Remember how it felt when we were together?
Now I just know how it feels to be alone.

I'm baring my heart and soul to you,
My loving arms are open wide for you,
Because I feel so empty without you,
I have an awful feeling, that's
Eating Me from inside.

So, please, please forgive me,
Find it in your heart to forgive my past,
Because ours could be a wonderful journey,
And it should be one that will last and last.

And if I project myself into the future,
And look back at the times we never had,
Then I know that I just feel so desolate,
More than desolate, in fact, desperately
And I know that I've broken a promise,
Sad, But that's not the only thing that's,
Breaking right now,

And I'll do anything, to have you
Back in my life, and I promise,
I'll make it up to you, somehow.

Because what we have is so beautiful,
So please, don't let this mistake tear us
Apart, because honestly, I love you
More than ever, And truthfully,
I'm suffering from a broken heart.
