Suicide Poem by Kaysen Fraker

Suicide

I've always believed
that doing this
would make someone pathetic
a coward

I understand the urge
I know the need
to simply end it all
make it all stop

I know what it's like to hate life
what it's like to be stomped on
spit on
shoved into the dirt

Life sucks
but I still believe
doing such a thing
makes you a coward

I feel like a coward.

There was a song in the 60's 'Suicide is Painless' and the refrain...'it brings on many changes' but most of all, it changes those left behind. It never gives answers but leaves more questions and regrets, the very things cowardice does. My poem, 'Frankie' was about my brother who committed suicide in 2003, the scars remain. I hope you see beyond the momentary solution in this poem.
