Summer 2007 Poem by Jean Sheridan

Summer 2007

Summer 2007

Clouds full of rain, day after day
Hailstones and thunder and cries of dismay
We look forward to summer, through winters so grey
And now that it’s here, there’s all hell to pay.
Roads look like rivers, and people despair
Their houses are flooded, they’re living upstairs
Children are crying, it’s cold and it’s damp
And nothing is working, not even a lamp.

Farmlands are flooded, some crops will be lost
Wheat will be scarce and the bread won’t half cost
Last year the heat wave was too much to bear
Now a nice summer dress I’d just love to wear.
Travel companies are enjoying a boom
As off to the Med we all want to go soon
To escape from the days that make us feel glum
And enjoy a few weeks in the glorious sun.

Hi Jean, Those were warm thoughts....I hope you had a good time in Summer 2007 vacation to the Mediterranean. Can we have some more poems please? Cheers. Subroto.
