unruly plants and bush and trees
in a row here in the garden
cry for love
in this summer dry;
and some
raise their roots above the brittle sand that cracks;
some stoop,
some back, some lean on others, and some wilt
like tired dancers collapsed off-stage;
and each chlorophyll life here searches like snakes: water…
