Summer Rain Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Summer Rain

As thundering clouds approach
Falling rain is puddling
Gently at first…then pouring
Upon open umbrella domes
Continuous cool droplets splatter
Splashes surge as rapid feet dash

A sudden crack of sizzling light
Accompanies a horrendous boom
Splinters of deranged bark
And branches fly through the air
Settling on the ground
Causing a startled heart
To momentarily stop…then pound
