Sunrise Poem by Nathan Streango

Sunrise

Sunrise, sunsets, my eyes, can’t rest, I’m blessed, but I cannot repent,
I cry, till sweat, I cry, and I forget, the moments left, and I did not repent,
I fight, my death, I tried, my will is spent, I’m out of breath, and I cannot repent,

And I heard the pastor say, that God forgave, when Jesus gave, his life away,
But I still stray, until I dig my grave,

Darkness, binds me, my distress, frightens me, I can’t see, so I cannot repent,
I’m high, find me, in the night, I’m hiding, my face from you, cuz I did not repent,
Lightning, strikes me, frightening, write me, the pain screams, so I write till I repent,

And I heard the angels sang, when Jesus came, he wrote his name, in my hearts shame, I bear this pain, until I dig my grave,

Digging, my grave, forgive me, I pray, and I’m afraid, to die before repent,
My tears, I’ve saved, my years, so in vain, I’ve failed again, and I did not repent,
To repent, to re-make, a life spent, inside delay, and so I pray, please help me to repent,

And I heard the Teacher say, I see your shame, I’ll wash the stains, I hear you pray, and so I say, that Jesus took my grave,

Sunrise, no sets, blue skies, golden steps, I’m blessed, when I chose to repent,
Laughing, is my rest, basking, in holiness, and I am blessed, cuz I chose to repent,
Black rain, black death, Jesus came, restored my breath, I’m blessed, I happened to repent,

And when you are feeling frail, when life is hell, and skin is pale, don’t lose yourself, Cuz Jesus will, Jesus will take your grave,
