Sunsets Poem by Pete Rivera

Sunsets

The rise of dawn
Marks the end of me
Scattered bats
That I couldn't see
Shoot right up
At the speed of light
My soul calls forth
To the start of night

And I don't know
Where I've gone
I don't know
What I've become
And I can't see
In front of me
The twilight breeze
Is killing me

But I am distinct

The dragonflies
And bumblebees
Can't I see
The sunsets, please?
Tore me out
Upon the sky
Now I feel
When will I die?

I am distinct

Can I smile?
Tell me
Can I smile?
Please
Can I smile?

I am distinct

Death, death
It is now
My final wish
Fulfull it now
