Sunshine Living Poem by Dominique Millman

Sunshine Living

A girl just five had many dreams ahead while sitting there thinking and crying on her bed
'i just want to die and go to heaven with mommy, cause sometimes grammy and just be so mean'
mommy listened to when i read stories
mommy laughed when i told her jokes
mommy cried when i got hurt
but grammy just sits and thinks its all a joke
my mommy is in heaven because a man so cruel
could drink and then drive oh it was brutal
when the police man came to my door i thought i was in trouble
but the look in his eyes just made me treble
im now fifteen and live with my daddy,
wishing i was gone
to be with somebody
somebody i could laugh with
somebody i could cry with
somebody i could tell stories with
and somebody i could hug with
my mommy misses me i know
but she just doesnt know
that someday i will see her hopefully soon and then be
her baby again
