Suppose You'D Not Come! Poem by Chai Amos

Suppose You'D Not Come!

Suppose you'd not come,
My journey would surely be long and calm,
To traverse from county to county within my country,
Just as did old men in history,

Suppose you'd not come,
It'd take me a bunch of days to get the palm,
As it's only available near the sea,
Else I'd having had no chance to these fruits see.

Suppose you'd not come,
How would I know to read and do a sum?
I'd surely remain the ignoramus village boy,
To true knowledge would I forever remain an alien and a foe.

Suppose you'd not come,
How would my industrious mum improve her farm?
Won't she still sweat with heaps of organic manure
And enjoy little harvest with nothing new?

Supposes you'd not come,
What would I what I now do term?
But would I have known to such a skill pursue?
Surely your coming is brings big an issue.
