Surprises Poem by Cherie Mort

Surprises

Rating: 5.0

I spent the better part of an hour doing dishes
Vainly making all manner of narcissistic wishes
But as I shut my bedroom door in relief
And pick up my homework written on loose-leaf
I idly take a sip from my cup of tea
And wonder to myself as it's to me
Still warm and pleasant, as though just taken off the stove...

It's the little things in life that surprise me so

Life really becomes very meaningful and happy if one can inculcate in him/her self the habit of deriving pleasure from small and minor things which are in one's life in abundance. This mindset has been wonderfully explored in the poem. enjoyed reading. Thanks for sharing.10 + points.
