Swallows Poem by Gillian Commerford

Swallows

The swallows are flocking on the vlei
they know its nearly time to leave
there's a nervous excitement about them
like travellers
whose suitcases are almost packed.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this after taking a walk to Zandvlei and seeing a large flock of swallows gathering to migrate back to Europe.A vlei for those who don't know is a lake.
