Sweet Little Mockingbird Poem by Juan Olivarez

Sweet Little Mockingbird

Rating: 5.0

He eyes the cat sitting on the ground,
Then silently dives without making a sound.
Just close enough to startle the cat,
Now far away from where he once sat.

Then up he flies, with infinite ease,
To the topmost branches of the cedar elm trees.
And sweet beautiful melodies once more fill the air,
That his beautiful soul compel him to share.

Unquestionably the king of all the song birds,
With the most beautiful songs you've ever heard.
Simply what he does is bring joy to the heart,
Unlike most humans, he does more than his part.

Whomever his voice touches is happy a while,
He banishes frowns, and makes faces smile.
Sweet little mockingbird, you're one of a kind,
Your songs to this humble man, are sweeter than wine.
