Sylvia Poem by Joshua cole

Sylvia

You were happy once
I can see it
The mouth can deceive
but the eyes, the eyes
they are innocent in their obviousness

bald as you say, open to the world
for all to see

jealously into the necklace,
that lives better than me
the links that sculp the bone,
that leads to the arm,
that leads to the charm,
that creates with such alarm!

lip curve to cheek
sitter of so many tears
hand brush to lobe
linger but a moment
the length of your neck,
is my endless journey of peace.
