Symmetry Poem by Gabrielle Martin

Symmetry

Rating: 4.0

I've a promise of a future
laced with elongated vowels
and sprinkled with white flurries
crystallized in late December air.

No two the same, they say;
symmetry matched but not
repeated.

There is no other like me, no place
like Maine
laced with a promise of a future
in late December air.

The symmetry of August happiness
matched
but not repeated
along the creases of a promise
in late December air.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
On a recent visit to the college I will be attending come fall, I scribbled this poem on loose leaf in a fury before I laid down to sleep. 'I've a promise of a future laced...' seemed so fitting to the engaging experiences I've yet to have there. The excitement of it all was contrasted with my earlier visit to Maine, the happiness of which was matched but not repeated.

A good flow in the thoughts.. A Poem about certain feelings that we all have gone through at some point or the other.. Expectations.. and the end result.. Good choice of words....

Yes, matched but not repeated. I've a promise of a future laced with elongated vowels....perspective is unique. Nice word choice.
