Tainted Memory Poem by Anders Lim

Tainted Memory

As I look at the picture of us once more
I can’t help but ask myself why
You are the one I truly adore
So why did I say goodbye

I tasted your lips on a silent night
Your hand held in mine
We held on to our love so tight
So what broke a love so divine

Shall I throw the picture away
Or burn it while I can
Cos when I said I was okay
Was when the pain truly began

I tell myself this love is untrue
For it holds nothing in its pain
But every single memory I keep of you
Is a scar that will forever remain

A tear rolls down when I try to forget
The fake smiles which we exchanged
These scars are filled with nothing but regret
As well as the love that will never change

But do you feel the pain I feel
Are we two of a kind
The love we shared, was it unreal
Or was it just senselessly blind

Will I ever see you again
Or does it truly end here
How much more must go in vain
To prove that I was sincere

But with this photo in my hand
I’ll never truly let go
Call me a fool, but please understand
That I love you more than you know
