Take this rose in your hand
And hold it to your heart
To always remember our love
And the very day it started

Hold it tightly in your hands
As I kneel in front of you
Let me hold you by your hands
And show my love for you

Keep this rose closely by you
As a symbol of my love
And should you miss my voice
Just listen to the mourning dove

Now since I'm knelt in front of you
And your hands are placed in mine
Can I ask you? Will you marry me?
Would you be mine for all time?

You know I love you dearly
It's a fact that everyone knows
But there are just those times
It becomes difficult to show

So darlin if you wou marry me
I would be the proudest of any man
I would be glad to wear that tux
Just to slip a ring on that hand

Then you know I'd be honored
To grow old just with you
Because as pretty as you are
There's nothing better I'd rather do
