Tanka By Wakayama Bokusui Poem by Elena Sandu

Tanka By Wakayama Bokusui

Rating: 4.8

Iku yama kawa
Koesari yuu Kaba
Sabishii sa no
Hatenan kuni so-
Kyou mou tabi ni yuku

Should I leave behind
How many mountain's rivers
To find a country
Where I may not feel lonely
Today too, journey keeps on.

*How many mountains rivers
should I pass over,
Question the country
of no loneliness-
Today also I keep doing my journey.

My humble and very poor interpretation of a wonderful Tanka that one of my neighbours taught and explained to me in Japanese during a bus ride..I'm afraid that is too hard to catch and give all the things that it says between the lines, it sounds so much better in its original tongue..
I tried to keep the pattern of the 5-7-5-7-7 syllables.
Am not perfectly happy with it so if anyone has a better translation, please help me. Thank you!

Rivers and mountains we have t o cross across in this life are not just as natural as we see thru EYES and vision but thru Heart! Somewhere in the depth of God's Creation it is he hinted us to see thru Heart even if I gave you EYES! ! ... Siddartha Montik!
