Tapas Poem by Robert Melliard

Tapas

In Spain they offer little 'tapas',
free, in bustling bars,
to savour with your beer or wine.

These might be chorizo rolls,
or ham or cheese or omelette
on a slice of bread,
or crisps or olives or whatever...

Not all bars do this,
but the ones that don't
are usually quite empty...

In British pubs, I fear one is offered
NOTHING..

In Spain, it's true,
bars are often one-man-shows
in which the owner cleans the floor
and serves and clears the tables
and has to order goods
and keep accounts.

So you may say
'Well, they have fewer costs.'

I say they're more generous...

Well you do get offered food in some bars Robert...and here it's normal to have food offered...but your right in Spain the tapas is freely given...nice poem...happy new year...
