Tapping At My Souls Window (Age 17) Poem by Jessica C. Galvan

Tapping At My Souls Window (Age 17)

'I hear a tapping at my window
in my walls
and in the air
I hear it every night and day
it never seems to go away
and I wont leave until I find it
they try to pull me away
keeping the tapping a secret
but I wont leave until I find it
night falls and the sky starts humming
singing to the sound of the
tapping walls
I feel consumes by this constant sound
its trying to get my attention
the floor creeks as I step
...it talks to me
leading the way of the “Secret”
I hear voice in the cracks of every corner
in the midst of every shadow
the moon shines upon me
its time for freedom
I found it deep beneath my flesh
a voice, a free spirit
longing to escape
its tapping at my window
its scratching at my walls
we are zombies of the world
and the secrets of this nation
tap tap tap at my soul
I have found my escape
I’m no longer chained
behind these walls! '
