Tell Her Poem by Marisa Nelson

Tell Her

Tick tock, tick tock
What is this noise I hear?
Tick tock, tick tock
It's so easy to fear
You wish for time to move
And it does fairly fast
Then you start to realize
How much you miss the past
And out the window it has gone
The glass is not half full
Cause in a few seconds there will be none
Your thirst will be unbearable
You wish for someone to come into your life
Then they do and they hand you a drink
Is your life getting better?
You lay and to yourself you think
Maybe it really is
But no one can be really sure
So live for today and nothing else
Tell her, tell her, tell her, tell her
