One time I tried to be bold
I told you I love you
But that didn't seem to help
You said you hated me
Those words continue to pierce my heart today

In my dreams, I see your outstretched hand
I reach for it
But fog settles in with a chill
And when I wake
I am cold and alone again

I want to believe that you are my one
My wonderful someone
But that will never happen
For you continue to haunt me

Sometimes I want to forget you
To move on with my life
But the hole you have burned within me
Cannot possible be filled
By anyone else
