Tell Me A Story Poem by G J Salgado

Tell Me A Story

There's a sadness to my story
But there's a light inside my soul
There's a darkness to my happiness
But there's still a story to be told
There's life in my song
But there's a black hole in my heart
It plays back like a movie that hasn't yet been written
It takes me into the future before I've even seen the past
So when I'm cold don't leave me breathless
And when I'm old and grey just leave me timeless
Hold me there inside your heart
Until I find myself there again
I'll be back soon so don't forget
See me smile when it's freezing outside
Hear my laughter when the fire burns deep inside
Feel its bitterness as you take a taste
Taste my tears to unlock the memories
So that you never have to see me when I'm lost
A thousand times we've known this all along
For thousands of years when the moon came and went
I can still hear the ocean, it tells me a story
When it turns back time, it erases everything from me
As the stars sing me a song it shows me the life in a movie
That never once has been told
