Tell Me Now Poem by Nicola Bowes

Tell Me Now

Tell me now…
Is it fun to play with guns
to lead people on?
To bring immediate death
to those who stand strong?

Will you quieten their eyes with hands of steel
Will you slice through their lives as though they're not real
Will you fight for me and find me interesting
When I shiver will you wrap your arms around me
If I stumble will you carry me
If I'm forgotten will you remember me?

And now although we are apart
And may have others on our heart
When I come back will you be waiting?
When I am ready will you be faking?
I want to know the real you again
I want the induced you to end

Give me a chance
I swear I've changed
Yet somehow I've stayed the same
The same person you fell in love with
The same person you promised your life to
The same person you say you miss
The same person you long to kiss

I want you to know
I long for you too
I'll wait beyond my soul that flies
and beyond my body that dies
to call you mine again
To protect you and wear your name
Because I'll love you till the end
and though I wait with breath abate
I know you are the decider in my fate
