Temptation Poem by Stanley Cooper

Temptation

Temptation is so tempting
Can send your mind a-soaring
When seemingly attempting
At being so alluring

We are told to not be tempted
To sin, we must resist
But I’d hate to be exempted
From temptations’ promised bliss

Why’s it wrong to have a craving
I can’t understand or reckon
What’s so terribly depraving
About things out there that beckon?

Temptation might your life enhance
Though some think it’s pure satanic
You might not get another chance
At being im-pure-it-an-ic
