Thank You Mommy Poem by Hertha Nekwaya

Thank You Mommy

Rating: 4.5

Thank you Mommy
Mommy for the space in your womb
Mommy for the warmness in your womb
Mommy the warmness made it a real home
Mommy I am sorry for the home alteration
Mommy it was a battle against loneliness
I didn't mean to declare a boxing match
As I boxed your heart kept racing and racing
Mommy your heart races were my motivation
So I swam around to freshen up
And I would attack my rival again

Mommy I kept you waiting and hoping
Mommy until I couldn't declare matches
Mommy I felt like a warrior
When you beamed with pride as I showed up
Mommy you jumped in height
Mommy you sang gratifyingly
For a moment I stopped actions
You had to change my diaper
And again you continued to smile

Mommy thank you for
You have held me along the fiesta
As tiny as I was
Mommy you held with care
Tears dropping as rain drops
I could really fill massive tanks
Not a soothe to sleep attempted
As it meant a beautiful rhythm
Titled, I am alive

Mommy you made me feel you
Your hands were gentle enough
Mommy you made me talk about you
You are praiseworthy
Mommy you made me write about you
Your wonders are poetic
Thank you Mommy
