Thankful Poem by Tiffanie Lein

Thankful

Rating: 5.0

The Oxford Reference with words aplenty
Couldn't provide a term to use
To fill my mind so blank and empty,
Lost for words, unable to muse.

So here I try to keep it simple,
Attempt I must, to show how glad
To have love from friends deep and ample,
For without which I must be sad.

A movie, one more, and yet another
Screams and fright and shock galore
Squeeze and cling on to each other
One team, one family, and so much more.

A photoframe, in it some thought:
Of days we spent in good company.
How together we tried and fought
And reached our goals, A1s: so many!

A CD, to croon my mind adrift,
A baking session and few hours of chat
Open our hearts and souls we lift,
What's one day to 6 years we've had?

A bag, a bag, a golden bag,
Shock and surprise doth cause some flounder
Gladness and understanding sure did lag
My buddy loves me, that's all that matters.

Options I had, I chose the other
Yet gave them back, & retraced my steps.
Anything else, I knew I'd rather
Spend one more year learning lame concepts

4am, one Tuesday morning
Music static on the line
Doing nothing, thoughts a-running,
Yet savour company so fine.

But still the best of best of all,
A gift untouchable and without an end,
Yet one that makes me stand so tall
When it comes from my very best of friend.

Still, one more! The most unbreakable
A bond that stretches o'er miles of land
And sea, and land, how unbelievable!
The viscosity of blood, by this hand.

Moments like these we don't need measure
To know how blessed our lives have been
Through pain and life and all its leisures
Too oft missed out on the unseen.

No, we don't need christmas to see
And feel, and give thanks for thee.
