Thanks, Mom Poem by Edwin Serrata

Thanks, Mom

Rating: 4.5

I escape the womb and today is a day of festive celebration
With great pain comes great love
I cry, stangely enough that's what I feel when I'm invited to the world
A bad start to the world
The most negative feelings anyone can endure and only seconds out
And there is the cold,
The neglect,
The pain

Upside down and already getting a beating form the man in white
Its not my fault for being born on this day

I'm flipped right side up and then held within a blanket
I open my eyes for the first time of my life
Cradling me and smiling is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
And I may have smiled myself, but I won't ever remember
Thanks, mom
