That Day You Come Back To Me Poem by Kimberly Knott

That Day You Come Back To Me

The sun slowly sinks into yesterday
Into the glowing horizon
As the month slowly sinks into May
I see the ship of life, the large mizzen
You are my love ship
Full of care
In compassion you shall dip
And in every way, you are my source of air
You sail into another tomorrow
The lake glowing with the light of the celestial sphere
My heart you will borrow
When you find me, I will be here
You left for a journey of your own
And promised your return for me
And promised that we will never be fully alone
And that promise was kept, because it is you which is all I see
I am standing on the border of the water and sand
Waving you down
Waiting for the warm touch of your hand
As the soft wind plays with my gown
You have come for me once again
As you get out of the boat
My soul has love, of which it is all it contains
And my heart can now stay comfortably afloat
I feel you in my arms
The sound of your heartbeat is all I hear as I snuggle close to you
You are setting off all of my alarms
To feel your breath on my neck is all I want to do
To feel your lips on mine
Your hands intertwined in my fingers
It is so soft like rice wine
Your voice, it lingers
As you pull me close
You try to find the words to say
Your love is what your actions shows
But they are as clear as day
We don’t need words
Because we already show what we want to say
As we hear the birds
And are making love in the middle of May
