That Sunny Spring Day Poem by Rhonda Harris

That Sunny Spring Day

Before I met you, I felt as though love was something that I would never know

All of those years I spent building my walls of stone
Left me feeling so cold, bitter and all alone

Within the walls of stone I had built around my heart
I was certain that no one could tear them apart

Afraid to love, trust and let someone see
The loving woman that was locked up inside of me

When I was sure that I would never know what true love was like
Was the day that you walked right into my life

With love in your eyes and the warmth of your smile
You gave that woman within me
the hope that love could be worth while

My life changed on that sunny spring day,
When you held me so close in your warm embrace

The way you held me so close to your heart
Gave me the courage to make a new start

You have chiseled away those walls of stone
And shown me I don’t have to feel so alone.

Now I can see what a True Love can mean
And the Loving Woman within me longs to be seen

I love you, my Precious, in every way
And I will cherish forever that sunny spring day
