The Accident Poem by Stephanie Boccia

The Accident

Can't sleep, can't hear, can't see, pain everywhere.
Can't stand, can't walk, can't skip, can't turn, can't bend, can't move, can't run, can't breathe, pain everywhere.
Can't focus, can't listen, can't hear you, pain everywhere.
Can't see cause the world keeps spinning, can't walk cause I keep on falling, can't shrug cause my muscles are crying, can't hear cause my right ear is dying, pain everywhere.
Can't hug you like I used to, can't hear you when you're there, please move to the left and maybe we can try and your voice may become somewhat clear.
I miss you even when you're here, the tears in your eyes bring me fear, the jumbled up mess inside my head can't make out what you say clear.
I'm sitting in a chair, but feel under water.
The waves keep on coming, and you just want your daughter.
But I can see the guilt and I can see the tears that I have somehow made in the family filled with errors.
But if anyone should feel guilty, I'm the only one who should be.
I'm the one who fell 75ft, wanting something now my brain cannot see.
