The Act Poem by Ben mcelfresh

The Act

The pain you feel
Unlike anything before
So many can share this pain
But so few admit to it

Don't put the blame on yourself
You did nothing wrong
You were but another victim
To the sicks games they play

Your life you're left with
Everything else was stolen
You didn't ask for this
You never imagined such an act

Now you're left alone
On the cold ground
Right where they left you
Right where the act happened

They walk away now
Leaving only the smell of smoke
You curse and wish to die
But the lord whispers it is not yet your time

Rain begins to fall
Still you lay crying
A stranger passes by
A caring hand he lends

You awaken to the sun
You recall the nightmare you lived
The memories flash you by
You begin to cry again

The stranger comes to your side
You back away in fear
But you see the care in his eyes
You know he's safe and not like the others

You now know that a new day has begun
Time to start anew
You are now a new person and stronger
You won't become just another victim.
