The Almost Poem by Emily Tyger

The Almost

Rating: 4.8

The breath the pause the look
the lingering second
the second too long
too long to be not
not long enough to be
be what it may it wasn’t enough
it was almost a moment
a moment lost fleeting
there was a chance
a risk a loss
lost to us for it was an almost
held back from the edge
knifes edge we were walking
walking towards then away
passing in the street
meet me half way
no, no step back
we cannot become
becoming as is
is it?
no it is was
it is lost it is gone
we will part step back
nothing more than a breath
a word on the tongue unsaid

Most of the time we 'almost' make it to success, be it in love, friendship or careers... But it's just that 'almost'... Thanks for sharing Emily...

Almost is often sad (Unless one is 'almost' shot.) Nice poem, Emily. Thanks
