The Army Dream Poem by Mayank Sharma, manipal

The Army Dream

Ever since my childhood I had a passion to join the army;
But maybe it was something not meant for me;
Tried thrice,
But every time failed like a novice;
First time went for the interview,
But maybe my capabilities were out of their purview;
Still had a fire in me,
And that was what made be survive the furious entrance spree;
Thought I had lost a golden chance,
But I still made a hopeful advance;
Ran for weight loss all through my vacation,
Almost made jogging my only vocation;
Went for interview with full confidence again,
As my confidence would give me a big gain;
Crossed all elimination rounds,
But success was something couldn’t I have found;
On the night before the conference,
Came there this man with a habit of interference;
He asked me my problem back home,
But I replied negatively saying no;
He misunderstood and abused my family upbringing,
That was the time my ears started ringing;
Couldn’t take it and so I replied back,
Very next day my reply gave me a major setback;
Full efforts and no results,
But pride in self respect will cover all the lulls;
Came back with a sad story,
But nothing to bring back my lost glory;
I promise myself success next times,
So I end my habit of writing such stupid rhymes;
It’s a lesson of life to move ahead,
To achieve success and in pride raise my head.
