The Arrow - For Johann Lodewyk Marais Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

The Arrow - For Johann Lodewyk Marais

Who was the hunter who drew
the bowstring taut
just before the arrow flew
as quick as thought

into the blood of the eland

the hunter’s bow, the arrow
drawn on a tablet of stone
the arrow he never lets go:

arrow poised in a moment of time, arrow
that now pierces to the bone.
