The Banner Knight Viii Falls The Knight Poem by Bob and Alex Eichen

The Banner Knight Viii Falls The Knight

Over The River Danuvius there spans,
A bridge of rock and stone.
At center, a single warrior stands,
Armed and all alone.
Behold the mighty Banner Knight,
With shield and spear and sword.
Readying himself to fight
The coming Mongel hoard.
There are no knights to offer aid,
All others lay quite dead.
But the Banner Knight is not afraid,
He has nerves of steel 'tis said.
When finally charge, his many foes,
He slays them one by one.
But his enemy, must surely know,
When falls this knight, the war is done.
But victory, it has been stalled,
The great knight will not yield,
The Banner Knight, he will not fall,
Although his fate is sealed.
For days and nights he holds his ground,
At last his foes lie slain,
And to his knees the knight falls down,
Begins his final praying.
Yes, he knows, his time is through,
He knows he'll die this day,
As carrion and bridge fall down,
To that River of Death, they say.
But fear not all you lesser ones,
Don't shiver, don't you quake,
For the Banner Knight had five strong sons,
Great heroes they will make!
