' The Battlelights... ' Poem by MoonBee Canady

' The Battlelights... '

Rating: 2.6

The BattleLight, On The Battlements
Glowing Against The Sky
Greets The Oncoming, Evening Dusk
As The Last Brave, Light Of Day Dies

The BattleLight, On The Battlefield
Torches … Carried In Each Soldier’s Eye
Blazes Into Fray, For Victory
Some … Have Said, Their Last Goodbyes

The BattleLight, In The Battle-Fires
Flickers Long and Scorches High
The Heat Of Battle, Crackles and Moans
As Lost Coals and Cinders Sigh

The BattleLight, On The Battleship
Explodes In Lightning, Ear-Shock Cries
Thunder Booms, Across Smoking Seas
Saluting Water-Glimmer Gravesides

The BattleLight, Of The Battle Hymn
May It Warm Hearts, Like Sunrise
Singing and Swinging, Shining Swords Of Love
With Joy and Peace … At Last, As Prize

* * *
(And, If It Is Your Luminous Will
Give Us Glory, On 10,000 Battlefields!
And In The Final Flare For Right
… Let Me Beam, As BattleLight)

* * *
The BattleLight, In These Battle-Lines
March As Far, As Bright Hope, In Size
Blister Or Burn Only HIS Enemy’s Lies
… in Red-Hot Rays Of Rhymes
