The Beast Poem by Patty Rose

The Beast

Once the door opened
the beast released
your soul forsaken

Traveling in the mid night
where forever a new moon
deepest shadow cast about
as it scorns the struggling ruin

Peace lay slain in its wake
riddle reaps the insanity she sows
relinquished love it will take
dismissed for prey upon the crows

Time alone will shut the door
capture this beast of dark abyss
whose laughter echoes through the lore
as you seek to escape senseless

Once the door opened
the beast released
your soul forgiven
