The Beast Poem by Mella FOG

The Beast

Rating: 3.0

It is best to let the beast sleep. Try not to tame him or awaken his heart, he is a beast. Monsters are meant to be alone. They cannot even live amongst themselves. Let him be. He is a beast.

The beast roared but did not scare her. She saw past the mask, behind the pain, behind the sadness laid a handsome prince. For the beast had for just a moment, dropped his guard…for he did not see her, he did not notice her. Her eyes were fixed right on the beast…to conjure a plan…to tame the beast to seduce his heart. But he roared, “I am a beast, girl, let me be, for I cannot see past all the hate nor can I love again.” Sad and distraught, the girl cried out “But even monsters are not meant to be alone for even the wild seek refuge in their darkest moments.”

He did not move, he did not blink for he was a beast who could not sleep. The girl did not hate the beast nor did she fear him…for she was to stay still till the perfect moment…for she longed the day to awaken his heart…to sing sweet melodies to tame the beast!

Brilliant piece, Mella. Really touched my heart, bought tears to my eyes and scared me a bit too. I will tell you a secret sometimes I like to think of myself as The Beast :) so that's why immediately read it when saw it among new poems. Just wonderful, wonderful writing even if I would not have related. Thanks, for sharing.
