The Beat Goes On Poem by theodore colterelli

The Beat Goes On

Dear Mom and Dad you have granted us passage to life.
You were two and now we are one.
The hearts you kindled rest and beats in your daughter and son.
And like the keepers of the flame,
We your children are the keepers of your heartbeat.
And the hearts beats of all that came before us.
So what ever I do in life is out of respect for you.
As the ambassadore of this heart that sustains me.
I will never betray or discredit this trust.
When other lives I touch, as you would have it.
I hope to leave each with the warmth of your flame, and
The love, peace and kindness of the heart that beats in me.
