The beauty of the camel
seen only
in the desert,
where the humped back
of dromedary simply follows
the mild curves of the dunes;
while in its regal gait
you get assurance, that both of you
can gain access to the oasis' gate;
where life, reduced to essentials,
holds in esteem
the Survivors.

beautiful imagery on good philosophic theme...the desert the camel and the oasis gate...picturing mundane, toiling life...10/10
yes not all are 'survivors' some perish on the way others reach teh target and are aclaimed for their feat, , life is a journey on camel back, , hence it is a bumpy ride, , the poem brings alive a desert atmosphere... your poems
The beauty is in your writing and how you see it and why you see it and how you say it. Your images are an oasis of thought...treking across the vastness of my mind. Midnight at the oasis... take your camel to bed. love Donall Donall (a survivor)
A superb and sublime poem on desert life as if you are outpouring your soul. I feel as if my spirit is your spirit. I spent the first 25 years of my life in the great deserts of Rajasthan. Its golden sand, the majestic camel ride and the joy of oasis still haunt my soul. The poem so finely delineates the desert life with perfect flow that I feel nostagic about it. Thanks for sharing it.
Now that I know you that little bit more, I see this poem as the backdropp to your favourite film. The sensuality of the sand-dunes mirroring the curves of the woman's body.... (to me anyway) . Love it! HG: -) xx
ther's something visibly pathetic about these camels...unfortunately i couldn't see them in their natural habitat. i saw them dotting the urban landscape of jaipur...
Camels are designed for functionality. They do their job efficiently Although they are not beautiful You must admit they are useful. when you are trying to survive Their ugliness you can forgive
camel is nature's own complex expression of its simple environment; Onelia paints it with compassion. Rgds, Ivan
