The Bird And The Water. Poem by Rachel Henley

The Bird And The Water.

When a bird swoops over water
tracing the water with its speed.
Like two long lost lovers greeting.
With nothing to say but hello.
Yet the water never did ripple the same.
The bird never wanted a new direction.
There's beauty in something brief.
How strong something lasts,
despite its own short lived tale.
The timeless effect of love.
The love story that never got boring.
The two lovers who never stopped adoring.

The bird never touched the water,
For the fear of drowning.
Yet still, the bird brought itself close.
Just close enough to taste the air.
Just close enough to last forever.
Our love. To remember or forget?
Either way, I wound my heart.
No, It's not best to hold on.
To something that shrugged you off, long ago.
No, It's not easy to forget.
About Someone who once loved you, long ago.
