The Blank Page Poem by Jeanne Antoinette Tyler

The Blank Page

As the pages turn
My friend
The last word is near

It soon slips from my tongue
As the cold reaches my lips
I write my last word
Upon the blank page
'Goodbye'

For it is truly goodbye
I knew thee
I helped thee
I loved thee
I lived in your arms
I die away from your arms

No one will hear the thoughts
Racing through my head

No one will find my remains
As the page flys away

Goodbye, goodbye

I light the match
the light slips from my mind

Goodbye, goodbye.
