The Box On The Wardrobe Poem by Casual Diamond

The Box On The Wardrobe

Invariably a shoe box!
Dusty covered with side hole views
Half covered finger prints visible from the last time touched
Tape on corners but evidence of sale price stickers long picked

Dearst to open once more
A history of forgetfulnesses;
A school report
An old key ring
Address book no longer in use or looked at;
Job advertisement and first pay slip
A wallet with nothing in it
Old photos of course
A wedding ring ovalled with wear
A dice for reasons unknown
(although am sure it was if I couldn't make decisions anymore!)
Old birthday cards that once meant something
And 'Pooky' the red bear from Cornwall
I remember that day

One day another will look and wonder what its all about

They might do.... but the memories are yours and they mean something to the author (and that's what counts) HG: -) xx
