The Broken Mirror Poem by Andrea Rieck

The Broken Mirror

Rating: 5.0

On the floor lies a secret now shattered
Watching eyes now lay as broken pieces
Harrower of one-time tales long battered
Speaks no more of sights of passing faces

A part of the past has been quick destroyed
Stories that still never would have been told
A lonely reflection, an empty void
Each swift, fast fleeting glimpse it thought as bold

Solemn, I wonder now what it had seen
Memories it chose to let slip away
What it gazed it had no choice between
A dark stainless face from a long gone day

A shadow of the life that keeps going on
Though the sights it glimpsed it did not save
They happened here as it once saw upon
Still lingers now does the thrill of each rave

Sad secretive tears are these shards of glass
A broken mirror – memories still pass

Brilliant. I love the rhythm and the suspense. You have real talent.
