The Business Of Emotions Poem by Ted Sheridan

The Business Of Emotions

Rating: 5.0

For many years I was in business
And I wasn’t the least bit emotional about it
It was all about profit and loss
Bottom lines and not last lines
Like when one writes a poem
Titles weren’t important
Spreadsheets were the Holy Grail
Just produce and get the job done
Forget about your family and your own personal problems
Time is of the essence
Money is the motivation
Death comes to those who hesitate
Life is all about being productive
Walk the walk and talk the talk
If you can’t swim you will sink
Treading water is only good for so long
Time to fish and quit cutting bait…
For many years I was in business
And I wasn’t the least bit emotional about it
It was all about profit and loss
Little did I realize I had amortized my family
And wound up a poor pitiful beggar who has nothing left
But the emotional distress
Of having forsaken all that was truly valuable

Great poem, and I have to agree with Marci's comments. **Hugz** CC

Excellent and alas, sure know about this loss you speak of even not having been in the 'corporate world' just a MOM and trophy wife to a 'suit.' Loss is life waiting to become gain.....You have your family and friends and 'yourself'' so, all is not lost as long as we can keep a grasp of our own souls..........love, marci.
